The traffic in Hanoi felt dangerous. High-density waves of scooters
(often with whole families on, or hauling improbably large loads of
cargo) sharing the road with pedestrians, displaced from the pavements
by the sprawl of shops and restaurants. Crossing busy roads was an
experience, and not for the faint-of-heart.
